Our Top Tips On How To Treat Every Skin Type

Have you ever tried some ‘amazing’ new skin care product only to find that it does nothing, or even makes your skin worse? It might have been wrong for your skin type. You’ve probably heard that when it comes to skin care, you should be using products formulated for your skin type. This is why it’s important to know what type of skin you have, so that you can get the most out of your products and skin care routine. We’re here to help you identify your skin type and give you advice on some of the best products to care for your skin!

What’s my skin type?

It’s really important to know your skin type as the wrong products can aggravate skin and lead to irritation, excess oil, breakouts or drying. You’ve probably heard the terms normal, oily, dry, combination, or sensitive skin types. But which one do you have? Here is how to identify your skin type:

  • Normal- Your skin feels comfortable, clear, and balanced. You only get blemishes or other skin concerns occasional and they go away quickly.
  • Dry- Your skin feels itchy and dry year round, especially after cleansing. You might also experience some flakiness.
  • Combination- Your skin is oily, has larger pores, or blemishes in your T-zone, but is dry or normal on your cheeks and jawline.
  • Oily - Your skin is shiny and you notice excess oil. You pores may appear larger which leads to frequent blackheads or other blemishes.
  • Sensitive- Your skin is easily irritated or inflamed, and becomes itchy, dry or red easily. Your may also react to new products.

It’s important to remember that your skin type can change over time. For example, skin tends to become dryer and loose elasticity as we age.

Normal skin

Though normal skin is one of the easiest types to care for, it’s important to keep skin balanced to prevent any skin issues from developing. You should immediately stop using any products that cause a shift in skin to become more oily or dry. Normal skin is one of the first types to show signs of aging and so you should also include some anti-aging and hydrating products in your skincare routine. Try using our luxuriant Youth Miracle Hydrogel Facial Mask, infused with lavender extracts, which has been specifically designed to fight dehydration, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, so that you can retain a smooth, radiant and youthful complexion.

Dry skin

If you have dry skin then you should avoid using alcohol and sulfate-based products, which can strip your skin’s natural oils. One of the best products for dry skin is the hydrogel facial mask which delivers a serious boost in skin hydration levels in just 20-30 minutes. This newly developed facial mask is made from plant-based gel material which means that your skin is able to absorb nutrients from the serums inside the mask and from the mask itself. Hydrogel face masks are drenched in comforting serums that work to perfect and hydrate your skin, leaving your skin looking luminous, refreshed, and revitalised.

Combination skin

The goal with combination skin is to restore the skin's balance. You don’t want to use any products formulated for oil control or ultra hydration to treat your entire face. Either use separate products to target the oily T-zone and dry areas, or look for a product that can restore skin’s balance.

Oily skin

Avoid any products containing alcohol and use oil-free cleanser, toner, and other lotions. Lots of people with oily skin make the mistake of skipping moisturiser but this can actually make skin worse and lead to dry patches and sensitivity. It’s important to keep skin hydrated and so look for a lightweight moisturiser containing natural ingredients. Exfoliating is also a good way to prevent pores from clogging and leading to blemishes. Use a gentle exfoliator once a week to keep skin looking fresh and healthy.

Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin is more likely to react to products and so always do a patch tend at least 24 hours before using any new product. Avoid any products with synthetic fragrance or chemicals and try to stick to natural products, or ones with basic ingredients that won’t be as harsh on your skin. Natural oil and extracts are gentle on the skin and offer a range of beauty-enhancing benefits. Check out our Glowing Potion Hydrogel Facial Mask which has been infused with the natural extracts of rose petals. Rose essential oil can do wonders for your skin and our facial mask offers a nourishing and hydrating experience that effectively replenishes and brightens your skin tone, without the need for harsh chemicals.
